New Research Trajectories for Migration Studies

Mangone Emiliana, Masullo Giuseppe, Gallego Mar

Università di Salerno, University of Huelva

The analysis proposed here have highlighted how gender and sexuality are not only two identity factors through which it is possible to analyse what is now increasingly presented as a clash of civilization - western vs. eastern - but also dimensions through which it is possible to study some aspects of the immigrants' integration process in the host country. Indeed, migration is an experience that shapes every facet of an individual, and for the aspects considered here, even the most intimate parts of the self, which include gender identity and sexuality . The essays presented here show how the study of these two dimensions is important to predict the relational forms from which the features of tomorrow's increasingly multicultural society will derive.
